Questions people ask
What is the difference between break-even and the target rate?
Break-even covers what the person costs a year spread over the hours a client is billed for. The target rate adds the margin you ask for, as a share of the price: a 25% margin keeps 25 of every 100 billed.
Where do the working days come from?
From the calendar of the year and place you choose: its working week, less its public holidays from the open-source python-holidays data, less the leave you enter.
What should I put for the billable share?
The share of hours worked that a client is billed for. Consultancies often plan between 60% and 80%; the rest is internal work, sales and training.
