Overtime starts with the record
Working out overtime is the easy part; knowing the hours were recorded when they were worked is the hard part. ReliTime asks for start and finish times on any day longer than the standard one, keeps them in an attendance register each person can read, and never overwrites a record once it is made.
Questions people ask
How is overtime worked out here?
Hours past the daily limit are added up for the week, hours past the weekly limit are counted once, and the larger of the two is paid as overtime. Adding them would count the same hour twice.
What limits apply in India?
The Factories Act, 1948 sets nine hours a day and forty-eight a week, with overtime at twice the ordinary rate, and those are the defaults here. The labour codes and each state’s Shops and Establishments Act can set different limits, so check what applies to your workplace.
