Questions people ask
What does the checker check?
That the number has fifteen characters in the right places: a GST state code, a PAN, an entity number that is not zero, the letter Z, and a check character that matches the arithmetic the GST system uses. A mistyped character almost always breaks the check.
Does a valid result mean the business is registered?
No. A well-formed number can belong to a registration that was cancelled, or to nobody. Only a search on the GST portal says whether a GSTIN is registered and active.
Can I check several at once?
Yes. Paste up to fifty, one per line, and download the results as a CSV.
